Lily James has officially taken the first step toward her transformation into Pamela Anderson. The Rebecca star is currently in Los Angeles filming an upcoming Hulu series based on Anderson’s marriage to Tommy Lee, which is aptly titled Pam & Tommy. And the first order of business when it comes to playing an iconic blonde is, of course, to go blonde.
James was spotted out in LA sporting freshly dyed platinum blonde locks à la Anderson, her natural brunette hue appearing to have been bleached out. Anderson – particularly in the period throughout the 90s when the eight-episode series is set – has a very recognizable brand of beauty, characterized by razor-thin brows, her signature Baywatch tan, black smoky eyeshadow and dark lipliner with contrasting lighter colored lipstick.
While most of Anderson’s look can be faked through makeup, it seems James went the more permanent route when it came to emulating the star’s icy blonde hair.

The Hulu production will follow Anderson in her whirlwind 1995 marriage to the Mötley Crüe drummer, who famously wed just 96 hours after meeting. Gossip Girl star Sebastian Stan will play Lee, with the series focusing heavily on the pair’s tumultuous relationship from the time they met right up until their highly publicized split in 1998.
During their marriage, the couple experienced a number of highs, including the birth of their two sons, Brandon and Dylan. But their relationship was notoriously rocky; a sex tape was stolen from their home and subsequently leaked not long after their union, and Lee was eventually arrested and sent to jail for spousal abuse.
Seth Rogen, who is also producing the limited series, is set to play the man responsible for the stolen tape. This is definitely one we can’t wait to watch.
