Lily James is no stranger to major transformations on screen — let’s not forget her star turn as Pamela Anderson for Pam & Tommy — but she also loves to switch up her look off-screen, too. The actor recently revealed that she’s ditched her raven brunette locks in favor of a new bombshell blonde hue — and we must admit, it’s not not Pamela-esque.

As James revealed on Instagram, she visited her go-to colorist John MacPherson at his London salon to get a hair refresh. And boy, did they ever make some major changes to her naturally dark locks, taking the star from her current chestnut hue to a striking shade of golden blonde.

As anyone who’s ever had their hair colored from brunette to blonde will know, it’s a lengthy (and very, very tricky) process that often involves an entire day in the salon chair. And while celebrities have access to the best in the business, there are few shortcuts that can ensure the end result doesn’t turn out a charming shade of ‘blorange’ — just ask Selena Gomez, who revealed that she clocked up 8 hours going platinum.

James was forthcoming about the transformation, calling MacPherson’s skilled color-work a “hair miracle!” — which should give warning to anyone hoping to achieve a similar result in a tight time frame. We’d argue James’ final look was worth it, with the star happily showing off her freshly honeyed locks with a Pam-style blowout and sweeping curtain bangs.

While she might enjoy emulating former Baywatch star Anderson’s look, she recently acknowledged the star’s position to not watch or support the Hulu series. “It’s tricky,” she said in a new interview with Variety. “It’s such a big conversation and something that I still think about on a daily basis.”

Either way, we’re living for the nostalgic looks.
