Please excuse me if I’m late to the party, but this new level of attitude and flair in Lily James’ wardrobe is leading me to believe the actress has undergone a form of metamorphosis since portraying the iconic bombshell, Pamela Anderson. Stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night alongside her co-star Sebastian Stan, the pair continued their press tour for the new Hulu limited series Pam & Tommy, premiering today.
Discussing their dramatic transformations and unorthodox methods they implemented to aid in authentically capturing their character’s real-life personas, James and Stan admitted to screaming into pillows to properly exert both Anderson‘s wispy voice and Tommy Lee’s grainy rasp.
Posing the question again, “blazer or no blazer?” Lily James rocked a Magda Butrym all black ensemble, featuring a ruffle halter crop top and tailored trousers, styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray. The Cinderella actress looked effortlessly and classically cool in her look, adding a few ’90s touches, including tiny shades and long nails for the occasion.
Perhaps the actress is still missing portraying the Baywatch babe on-screen? James told NET-A-PORTER that having to revert back to her true self after her jaw-dropping transformation was “like being stripped of all these superpowers! I’d really enjoyed the physicality and the sensuality, even down to the long fingernails. There was just so much character to hold on to – it was really thrilling.”
In addition to sporting the long nails she didn’t want to give up, we couldn’t help but notice the rest of James’ wardrobe seems to have gotten just a smidgen more “Pamela” than her previous sartorial choices, taking a few style elements from Anderson’s playbook.
Appearing alongside James, I, Tonya actor Sebastian Stan, stood out with his look as well, sporting a fire-engine red suit with a hazelnut brown leather collared shirt beneath from Teddy VonRanson’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection, styled by Michael Fisher. Rocking a pair of Barton Perreira sunglasses outside of the studio, the Gossip Girl alum meant business.
The first three episodes of Pam & Tommy premiere February 2 on Hulu. The remaining five episodes will come out each Wednesday.
