The 23-year-old has already landed her first high fashion campaign with Louis Vuitton, starred in a campaign for sacai x Nike, and has covered glossy’s from Vogue to Sports Illustrated. Now she’s revealing a new exciting collaboration with Levi’s that launches on August 24.
The collaboration with Levi’s features four upcycled denim pieces for Summer 2021. The sustainability aspect was super important to me,” says Osaka in a statement shared with GRAZIA. “And I love that every piece in the collection has been recycled or repurposed from old stock.” A standout from the capsule is definitely the denim kimono with a matching obi belt. “I always loved wearing kimonos when I was a kid,” says Osaka continued. “So, to be able to do it in denim felt really different and a bit unexpected.”
Lace-Up Short made from upcycled pairs of men’s Levi’s jeans, a Crystal Fringe Short made using vintage 501 Shorts, and a trucker jacket bustier made from reworked Levi’s complete the limited edition collection. The two powerhouses design the collection to be playful and easy to wear while honoring Osaka’s rich Japanese heritage and emphasizing sustainability. Perfectly blending both sportiness and femininity Levi’s first teased the collaboration on Instagram with a video of Osaka wearing pieces from the collection alongside a caption that reads, “get in the headspace.”
The Levi’s x Naomi Osaka collection will be available on August 24 in the U.S. exclusively on the Levi’s App.
