Never one to slow his roll, the recently retired superstar celebrity stylist Law Roach is just as busy as ever. The self-proclaimed “image architect” just walked in the BOSS runway show in Miami and attended a stylish fête in Mumbai with Zendaya over the weekend. In a new interview, Roach opened up about how he’s feeling following his announcement that he’s leaving the celebrity styling sphere.

“I didn’t retire and thought the next day was going to be perfect,” Roach told People. “So, I’m going through certain stages of grief. I literally lost something that had been so important to me and such a big part of me for so many years, that it felt like a part of me died. So, I went through guilt and sadness and a couple of days of just dark depression.”

Two days after the 2023 Academy Awards in March, Roach shared the big news on social media writing, “My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics, the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out. ❤️❤️❤️” He had just styled Hunter Schafer, Megan Thee Stallion, Kerry Washington, Hailee Steinfeld and Eve Jobs for the 2023 Oscars afterparty.

In his recent interview Roach said, “I’m always up because my business is always running, so I always prioritize my clients and my business. Now, I’m trying to figure all that out. First of all, I don’t know what brings me joy, and I don’t know how to take care of myself yet. So, again, I’m learning, and I’m excited to learn. I’m excited to make me the priority.”

Since announcing his retirement, Roach walked in the Boss Spring/Summer 2023 show and visited Mumbai with Zendaya to celebrate the grand opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. He also announced a new partnership with T.J. Maxx and attended a Netflix event to promote the new series Beef at a “Release Your Rage” retreat.

Roach explained at the retreat that his urge to quit stemmed from anger that he had lost track of himself. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Roach said, “It was the rage I had I had with myself. I think that I’ve given so much of me to my clients and to my career and to my success that I don’t know really when the last time I was a priority for me. At that moment [when I announced my retirement], I had some things that happened, but I wasn’t mad at everybody on the outside. I was mad at myself. I figured out that I didn’t love myself. All of my rage was internal. In that fit of rage, I said, ‘You know what, get somebody else to do it.’”
