But the piece of her look that’s drawn the most attention is her massive gold brooch, which features a dove carrying an olive branch.
Fans were quick to compare the dove brooch to the Mockingjay bird symbol used in Suzanne Collins’ young adult dystopian novel series, The Hunger Games. “Lady Gaga is gonna CRUSH the Hunger Games,” one social media user tweeted. Another wrote, “Lady Gaga knocked it out of the park at the Hunger Games Opening Ceremony.” Unsurprisingly, searches for the Hunger Games movie have surged in recent hours as a result.
Contrary to popular belief, though, Lady Gaga’s brooch has nothing to do with the series. The statement accessory symbolizes a new chapter for the United States of America as Biden takes office. The hit maker shared a photo of the dove brooch on Twitter at 1 pm EST. “A dove carrying an olive branch,” she wrote in the accompanying tweet. “May we all make peace with each other.”

The day prior, she shared a heartfelt message of unity for her 45 million Instagram followers. “I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans,” she wrote in the accompanying caption of a photo of herself at the US Capitol. “A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is nonviolent, a dream that provides safety for our souls.”
