It’s never not a standout moment worth talking about when Lady Gaga hits the red carpet, and on Sunday she delivered not one but two show-stopping style moments that you best believe we can’t stop talking about today.
Last night she brought Old Hollywood glamour meets her signature avant-garde style at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards — which were broadcasted from both Los Angeles and London. The actress-musician, nominated for best actress for her film House of Gucci, attended the awards via London in an oh-so appropriate knockout Gucci gown.
Leave it to Gaga to bring a risqué take on glamour to the red carpet. The custom bra top gown was taken from creative director Alessandro Michele’s Spring 2022 collection and given a sexy modern interpretation that is quintessential Gaga. It consisted of an exposed bustier featuring a black lace bolero and complete with a gold, crystal-embellished skirt with a dramatic train. She accessorized the look with diamond earrings and a bracelet from Tiffany & Co. adding to the timeless yet dramatic ensemble.
The Gucci look comes after the actress-musician pulled off a figure-hugging velvet emerald green gown by Ralph Lauren just hours earlier for the British Academy Film Awards. The look itself also spoke to the golden age of Hollywood but with a more subtle take. Leaning more into classic elegance for her first look of the night, the Grace Kelly-esque gown featured a plunging neckline and glorious train. Under the gown, Gaga wore her go-to ultra high-platformed Pleaser boots in black to give her some extra height. The black patent leather pair was nearly invisible except when she strutted down the step and repeat posing with a dainty feathery pouch bag. For jewels, she kept with diamonds and emeralds from Tiffany & Co.
The Oscar-winning musician wasn’t the only one who was on-hand for the back-to-back awards show schedule. American actress Ariana DeBose from West Side Story and Irish actress Caitríona Balfe from Outlander also managed to make it to both the BAFTA’s and Critics Choice Awards Sunday night, pulling off two different looks — talk about commitment to red carpet style.
