Just months after the premiere of Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, starring Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani who hired a hitman to kill her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver), the story of the Italian fashion dynasty is continuing on through two new projects.

According to Variety, a TV drama and documentary by Sky Studios is coming. The documentary is reportedly in pre-production, while the TV show, which is set to be based on the doc, is in the early stages of development.

Unlike the Scott production (which did not consult the real-life Gucci family on the film resulting in a “fuming” statement from the family), Alessandro Gucci, Guccio Gucci Jr. and Giorgio Gucci are in agreement with the new projects, with Giorgio serving as executive producer on the documentary.

While House of Gucci focused on the murder of Maurizio, the new projects will show a deeper look into the fashion family, starting with the man who founded the brand in 1921, Guccio Gucci Sr.

According to a statement obtained by Variety after the 2021 film premiered, the family wrote: “The production of the film did not bother to consult the heirs before describing Aldo Gucci — president of the company for 30 years — and the members of the Gucci family as thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them. Gucci is a family that lives honoring the work of its ancestors, whose memory does not deserve to be disturbed to stage a spectacle that is untrue and which does not do justice to its protagonists.”

A director is still not confirmed, but the new docuseries is set to start production soon with a projected airdate of 2023.
