Kim Kardashian‘s name might be on everyone’s lips in light of those major divorce rumors, but today the reality star is more concerned with what’s on her own – her lipliner, more specifically. The founder of KKW Beauty took to Instagram today to ask her almost 200 million followers if they thought her makeup looked a little too over the top.

“Guys serious question… how do you feel about my lipliner? It’s so overdrawn!” Kardashian said with a laugh in one video. “Guys are we feeling it? Let’s be honest. Is this the vibe these days?” She then jokingly asked her fans to let her makeup artist Ariel Tejada know their thoughts on the look if they felt her lipliner was too “overdrawn”.

“Why are you trying to start something on the Gram?” Tejada can be heard asking in the background, to which Kardashian replied that she was just “really curious” as to what her audience thought. “Do you like it?” asked Tejada, to which Kardashian insisted she did. “I like it, I do – I like it… except for if you’re in person, then you’re like ‘oh sh*t,'” she continued, laughing, “I think for in-person meetings I should tone it down.”

Exaggerated lipliner is a beauty trend that was big in the 90s, but regained popularity in recent years – largely thanks to Kardashian’s sister, Kylie Jenner, who used the classic makeup trick to make her (admittedly, already cosmetically-filled) lips look “way bigger”. Tejada, as Jenner’s go-to makeup artist, was responsible for the look that’s become the beauty mogul’s signature.

“Wow you’re really trying to come for me with this lipliner sh*t! Kim and I were just joking. Ask her, because she’s the one who asked me to do this – we call it ‘the Ariel lip,'” Tejada explained over on his own Instagram stories. “But in all seriousness, it is a little overwhelming sometimes in person because it is meant for camera, it’s meant for pictures and since she’s usually mostly doing this, which is why we do it.”

Tejada put the final question to bed by offering followers a tip on how to nail the lipliner look “for the right time and place… I love it, it looks beautiful and it gives a lifting effect to the lip [because] I overline mostly at the cupid’s bow – which is a trick that you guys know now.”
