Could Kate Middleton be taking style cues from the book of Meghan Markle’s cream coordinating sets? It’s highly unlikely. But, when the Princess Of Wales was pictured in an elegant ribbed cream sweater and matching midi skirt by French label Sézane at Nottingham Trent University on October 11, it was hard not to draw parallels.

The beautiful princess was radiant as she strode across the paved grounds of the university, smiling and greeting guests. Her hair—long and with a few signature tousled curls—was swept behind one ear to reveal a dainty set of Simone Rocha pearl-drop gold earrings. Middleton accessorised with a pair of nude Gianvito Rossi pumps and a small handbag, and as her outfit was kept neutral, her famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring took centre stage.

“I would love to be a student again,” Middleton told the students. “University for me was one of those great opportunities to try out hobbies.”

At the event, Princess Catherine discussed the importance of mental wellbeing, particularly among young people. (It was the same day Markle and Prince Harry hosted an event in New York about the effects of social media on children). Both engagements were to mark World Mental health Day.

Later this same day, Middleton joined her husband Prince William in Birmingham where they hosted an event titled “Exploring Our Emotional Worlds.” It was a forum for young people to speak freely about their feelings.

“What are we trying to improve by focusing our efforts on mental health? Ultimately, we are working to build a happier, healthier world,” Middleton said. “We want to shape fairer, safer, kinder, more equal societies—societies that seek the common good and a better future together.”
