In what feels like another lifetime—when she starred as the beloved Rachel Zane on hit television series SuitsMeghan Markle sported more blouse-with-a-pencil-skirt combos than the exorbitant amount of search results returned when you Google her name. (The latter currently stands at 438 million, for those counting.) So, now, as the Royal begins a new chapter with her and husband’s non-for-profit organisation it’s super interesting to see her 2023 version of “workwear”.

In New York, at their first in-person event for their foundation, Markle and Prince Harry held the Archewell Foundation’s Parents’ Summit which focused on mental wellness in the digital age. Markle, looking beautiful, wore an egg-shell coloured blazer with a folded down neckline by Altuzarra. The off-the-shoulder number was teamed with a pair of Altuzarra wide-leg trousers, Altuzarra Purist Pumps in nude, and a pair of Sarah Hendler Pave Spear Tip Dangle Studded Earrings—a new combo Rachel Zane would surely approve of should she, Mike Ross, Harvey Spector, and Jessica Pearson still be conducting their usual walking meetings at the law firm. Come to think of it, this blazer even rivals Markle’s 42nd birthday look and that camel-coloured coordinating set! (It actually reminds us of her days as a working Royal!)

In the crowd were parents who had experienced tragic loss of connected to their child’s social media use.

“We met some of the families … It was impossible to not be in tears, as I’m sure so many of you have been today, hearing these stories,” Markle said.

“As parents – our kids are really young, two and a half and four and a half – but social media is not going away. I think, by design, there’s an entry point that’s supposed to be positive in creating community – but something has devolved.”

“They say being a parent, the days are long but the years are short, so it worries me, but I’m also given a lot of hope and energy by the progress we’ve made in the past year being able to have these incredible parents, these survivors of these experiences, share their stories and the more information gathering we’re able to do, the more we can move the needle a little bit,” Markle continued. “Everyone is affected by the online world and social media. We all just want to feel safe. I’m confident that with more ears and awareness and visibility of what is really happening, we can make some significant change together.”
