After almost five years together, Kaley Cuoco and her husband Karl Cook announced their split over the weekend in a joint statement.

In a letter given to PEOPLE, the pair wrote that they have a “deep love and respect for one another”, but “have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.”

“We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary,” the statement continued.

“We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further.”

Cuoco an equestrian and animal lover, met Cook, also an equestrian, in 2016. They got engaged on her birthday in November 2017 and married in June 2018.

Following the news, Instagram’s favorite real-life Gossip Girl @DeuxMoi was alit with rumors about the reasoning behind the split, with one celebrity’s name popping up more than once: Pete Davidson.

Davidson, an actor and Saturday Night Live comedian, recently went through a split of his own with British actress and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor. He’s dated a slew of famous women such as Ariana Grande, Kaia Gerber, Margaret Qualley and Kate Beckinsale in the past and was spotted holding hands with Cuoco over the weekend.

But before you get too… excited? upset? confused?, the pair were only packing on the PDA while on the set of the new rom-com they’re working on together, Meet Cute.

Davidson and Cuoco have been filming the rom-com in New York City for the better part of August. According to Deadline, the premise of the movie is, “What would you do if you could travel to your loved ones’ past, heal their traumas, fix their problems and change them into the perfect partner?”

On Instagram last week, Cuoco celebrated the wrap of filming, writing, ‘That’s a wrap on ‘Meet Cute’ !! What an experience! Loved every single human involved with this special little gem of a of film.. would do it over and over and over again (get it? It’s a time travel joke lol) see the movie and you will understand.’

Whether or not this on-screen chemistry blossoms into a real-life romance remains to be seen, but given Davidson’s track record with talented, beautiful women, we honestly wouldn’t be too surprised.
