After making her on-screen debut in 2016’s Sisters Cities, and appearing in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story last year, model Kaia Gerber is adding another acting project to her résumé.
The star is joining the cast of Bottoms, a queer high school comedy from the duo behind the 2020 indie hit Shiva Baby. Directed by Emma Seligman and starring Rachel Sennott (both of Shiva Baby fame), Kaia rounds out the cast which also includes, Big Mouth’s Ayo Edebiri, Murderville’s (and former NFL running back) Marshawn Lynch, Castle Rock’s Ruby Cruz, Succession’s Dagmara Domińczyk, and more.
Sennott took to Instagram with the news of the film’s lineup writing, “cast of my dreams”.
According to Deadline, the film (which begins shooting this spring) will follow “two unpopular queer girls in their senior year [of high school] who start a fight club to try to impress and hook up with cheerleaders.”
“I wanted to be an actress really bad when I was growing up,” Gerber told Vogue last year. “I was into musical theater. My poor family, they had to come to so many productions. They came to five shows of The Wizard of Oz where I only played a tree, bless their hearts.”
With the news coming weeks after Bella Hadid announced that she’ll be joining the cast of the acclaimed comedy-drama series Ramy, get ready to see more models making the foraying from the runway to the screen.
