If you’ve ever wondered whether luxury designer sports apparel and gear are tough and technical enough to stand up to real-world outdoors conditions and in competitive sporting arenas? Well, now we know the answer.
American snowboarder Julia Marino took home a silver medal in the women’s Slopestyle event at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games this weekend—and while plenty of people cheered on her pristine run that won Team USA its first medal at this year’s Games, there were lots of fashion eyes on her luxury snowboarding gear from Prada. Marino, who fronted the autumn-winter 2021 Prada Linea Rossa Ski campaign, chose the brand’s snowboard for her winning ride—and the distinctive red-and-white Linea Rossa logo stood out, like a fashion beacon, among the competition.
Listed on the Prada website and available in three sizes and two colors, white and black, the Prada Linea Rossa snowboard is described as: “Inspired by freeride design and made with eco-sustainable material, is easy to handle and manoeuvre, even in the most technical situations.” The board features a poplar wood core, a medium/soft flex, and is designed for all types of terrain.
The 2022 Olympic Games have been a welcome live television respite amidst ongoing social distancing around the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s Games seem to feature more fashion moments than ever—including absolutely fabulous ice skating and ice dancing costumes and multiple big-name designer collaborations on opening and closing ceremony outfits.
