Model and actress Iris Law nearly broke the internet last week when she debuted a fresh platinum blonde buzz cut on Instagram. It’s a far cry from her usual brunette look with the bold change making a red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival overnight. Law was attending the premiere of The French Dispatch starring Timothée Chalamet and Tilda Swinton.

Law stepped onto the red carpet wearing a Grecian-inspired Christian Dior dress with jewels supplied by Bulgari. The evening prior she attended the Cannes Dior dinner wearing a black tasseled dress from the French fashion house. Just look at it! Look at it!

The 20-year-old is preparing to take up a debut role for the limited series Pistol. Based on band Sex Pistol’s guitarist Steve Jones and his memoir, Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, the six-episode drama will follow an unlikely guitar hero, the rise of punk music and its subsequent social revolution. Law will play punk icon Soo Catwoman (who sports a blonde buzz cut).

Speaking to British Vogue to unveil her new look, the daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost describes the experience of shaving her head as “liberating”.

“I wanted to do something that felt liberating. The day I shaved my head, I changed my life. I’ve never done anything like that before,” she said. “I looked in the mirror and thought it was going to be emotional but it wasn’t. It felt so positive.”

Elsewhere on the red carpet, Chalamet turned heads and made social media collectively swoon as he made a return to the spotlight in Tom Ford. As a jury member this year Maggie Gyllenhaal was also in attendance wearing a billowing Chanel Haute Couture ensemble.
