In the pursuit of keeping a low profile, Leonardo DiCaprio has been doing it for decades. A purveyor of baseball caps — there’s the Alabama cap, the Auburn cap, the Adidas cap, and that’s just the A’s — the Oscar-winning actor’s dedication to hiding his identity with a bent brim is as strong of a game as his commitment to dating women half his age.
Another known face giving a great hat performance this week is Irina Shayk. The 37-year-old Russian supermodel was spotted on the streets of New York overnight in an intentionally inconspicuous black cap beneath a black hoodie, beneath a black coat.

But, like DiCaprio, in Shayk’s efforts to go camouflage with the common dwellers of the city, the cap made her stand out. Even with her eyes shielded in black sunglasses, the cap screams, “I’m a celebrity, don’t take my photo” to any prying paparazzi who undoubtedly know her morning coffee route. (DiCaprio and Shayk are friends, so perhaps he’s given her his hat tricks?)

Just last week Shayk walked Daniel Roseberry’s controversial Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture runway in Paris. She was one a few models wearing a life-size — and life-like — animal head on her dress. While they were manmade and not fur, netizens drew the discussion on what it actually represents. Shayk defended the house.
“I support these incredible artists who worked tirelessly, with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to sculpt this embroidered Lion, and image of Pride, an image that @schiaparelli invokes while exploring themes of strength,” the model captioned a post on her Instagram account.

You can catch up the show here — and Shayk’s aggressive brooch — with GRAZIA’s contributing fashion editor Alissa Thomas.
In interim, here some inspiration to achieve Irina Shayk’s “incognito” look. You’re not famous so you’re allowed to sport the cap.
