After having been endorsed by royalty, Anne Boleyn and Princess Diana have ensured that the personalized initial necklace will never go out of style. With their impact ever-looming, monogrammed jewelry can be seen on today’s runways and style stars with a replica of Boleyn’s trademark piece recently spotted on resident it-girl, supermodel Bella Hadid.

With Anne Boleyn having been played by some of the most talented actresses of our time, Natalie Portman, Claire Foy, Natalie Dormer, and now Jodie Turner-Smith have all tried their hand at portraying the Tudor Queen, all donning iterations of the monarch’s signature “B” initial necklace in their respective period dramas

As one of history’s most intriguing royal characters, the image of Henry VIII’s second wife is as enduring as her legacy. After the King ordered Anne Boleyn be beheaded in 1536, Henry VIII ordered all portraits of her be destroyed. The one that got away is currently sitting in the National Portrait Gallery in London, displaying the mother of Queen Elizabeth I, wearing her iconic gold and pearl “B” pendant. While historians do not know what happened to the mythical piece of jewelry, legend has it that the charm was melted down and integrated into the Imperial State Crown.

Of course, Boleyn was not the only royal to sport the personalized pendant. Lady Diana famously wore a “D” charm around her neck both before and after her marriage to Prince Charles, causing many to speculate if donning her first initial was meant to be a power move of sorts. Possibly a symbol of autonomy, the statement piece could act as a vehicle to assert one’s individuality, to declare self-ownership.

With modern day renditions seen on the runways of Balenciaga and Celine, in Ugly Betty and on Mean Girl‘s Regina George, Carrie Bradshaw’s golden nameplate necklace comes to mind as well. With the new Anne Boleyn dramatic miniseries currently streaming, we’re dying for an initial necklace of our own.

Here, GRAZIA has rounded up some of the most fashion-forward initial pendants just in case you want to feel like royalty.
