For the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Hervé Leger creative director Christian Juul Nielsen celebrates women’s empowerment by presenting confident and expressive silhouettes. For inspiration, Nielsen looked to no other than the iconic Joan of Arc — a leader in armor. Nodding to the heroine of France, the collection includes transparent layers like chainmail-evocative netting, conveying the idea of fortitude and protection for the modern woman.

The legendary French fashion house is most known for pioneering the iconic ’90s supermodel bandage dress. The bandage dress, much like other early aught trends (low-rise jeans, baby tees, etc.), has seen a revival from its creation in 1985, including the recent and first-ever collaboration with Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Now, the bandage dress gets its latest revamp, transforming into a modern corset designed with boning, articulated bra cups, and other contemporary accents. Other key styles include trendy cut-out dresses, playful cropped bralettes with matching cardigan knits — perfect for layering — and updated form-fitting bodysuits.

Continuing his mission to adapt to a new generation of women, the collection of ready-to-wear pieces give those who wear them a new approach to comfort, edge, and timeless confidence. The luxury label shot the campaign in and around a medieval castle to add an element of romanticized vibes. The juxtaposition of the dated castle and modern ensembles perfectly brings Nielsen’s vision to life. Ahead, check out the dazzling campaign.
