After weeks of speculation, model Gisele Bündchen and her husband of 13 years, football legend Tom Brady, are divorcing. On Friday, the couple shared a statement on each of their respective Instagram Stories announcing that they have “finalized their divorce.”

“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce,” the fashion icon shared on her Instagram Stories. “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care, and attention they greatly deserve.”

Bündchen continued, “The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you.”

The pair married in 2009 and share two children, Benjamin Rein, 12, and Vivian Lake, 9, while Brady shares his oldest son John Edward Thomas Moynahan, 15, with his ex, Sex and the City actress Bridget Moynahan.

The NFL quarterback echoed a similar sentiment in his own Instagram Stories, writing, “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way.”

Brady continued, “We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”

According to People, the couple filed for divorce on Friday, Oct. 28 in Florida, and have agreed to share custody of the children. The outlet also reported that the settlement “is all worked out” and that Brady will remain in Tampa, while Bündchen will live in Miami.

An insider recently told Page Six that the reported split comes after an “epic fight.” The source told the publication, “I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is. I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”

The football star initially retired from the NFL in February before reversing his decision and returning to the field with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In September, Bündchen told Elle magazine, “Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” she said. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
