UK-based fashion label Self-Portrait has tapped supermodel Gigi Hadid for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection and just shared a preview of the line – which is filled with crystal-covered dresses in ombré pastels, lime green, and soft, gilded gold.
The Guest in Residence founder posed for British photographer Tyrone Lebon in the bustling streets of New York City.
“We wanted to preview our new collection in an interesting way,” said the brand’s founder and creative director Han Chong in a statement. “Taking the collection to the streets rather than on the runway and seeing them in a natural and urban setting which feels more connected to us as a House and to our customers.”
The designer continued, “Gigi really captures the electricity of these new designs against New York City’s vibrant backdrop. She and Tyrone Lebon formed a magical partnership in bringing the spirit and sensibility of our brand to life for this special preview.”
“One of the things I love most about my job is the opportunity to build creative relationships,” said Hadid. “Collaborating with Han and the self-portrait team was so much fun and felt familiar in all the right ways.”
This isn’t the model’s first rodeo with the London-based fashion house. Hadid posed for another Self-Portrait campaign this July, sporting pieces from the brand’s Fall 2022 collection.
The preview comes as a replacement for the traditional runway show format, released amid the global Fashion Week calendar. More content of the photoshoot will be shared throughout the season.
Styled by Alex Harrington, Hadid appears beautifully bare-faced, with minimal glam by makeup artist Nadia Tayeh. The model’s long wavy platinum tresses evoke a beach-bound effortlessness by hairstylist Akki Shirakawa.
Hitting stores in February 2023, the Spring/Summer 2023 collection introduces a vibrant and playful palette of gradient pastels and popping hues. There are slinky shift dresses and second-skin frocks, to a sheer, crystal-embellished gown, plus lace separates and statement swimwear that round out the new collection.
“I wanted to create a collection that was vibrant and sensual and full of energy,” said Cong. “One that celebrates the evenings both in and out. We’ve introduced new styles, effortless silhouettes, and an upbeat palette of colors from bright neons to soft dégradé hues. The ambition was really to present a very joyful collection.”
