Good news! We’re officially starting 2021 on a positive note. First, there were the unexpected reports that Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are an item; now, we’ve found out that congratulations are in order for Emma Stone, who is reportedly expecting her first child. Photographs taken last week and published today by the Mail show Stone meeting a friend in Los Angeles, wearing a mask and looking heavily pregnant. The actress herself hasn’t confirmed the rumours, though a source told E! News the Oscar-winner is indeed expecting.
This will be Stone’s first child with husband Dave McCary, who she met in December 2016 when she hosted Saturday Night Live, where McCary was working as a producer. The pair quietly dated for two years before McCary proposed in 2019 with a custom diamond and pearl engagement ring from the culty jewelry label, Catbird. Though Stone isn’t on social media, McCary’s engagement announcement (an adorable selfie captioned with a simple heart emoji) quickly racked up a cool 370,000 likes. The pair is thought to have married in a private ceremony some time this year.
Stone joins an already-growing rank of celebrities expecting children in 2021. In December, Emily Ratajkowski revealed she was expecting her first child with film producer, Sebastian Bear-McClard; in October, Game of Thrones stars, Rose Leslie and Kit Harington, announced they are also expecting their first child, while Mandy Moore, Rachel McAdams, Hillary Duff and Britain’s Princess Eugenie are also currently pregnant.
Given Stone’s acting chops (she won her first Oscar for her role in La La Land in 2017), and McCary’s comedy credentials (he directed his first film, a critically lauded indie dramedy Brigsby Bear, produced by fellow SNL alumnus, Andy Samberg, in 2017), the future baby McCary-Stone is in possession of some seriously enviable genes.
