Emily Ratajkowski has lent her effortless style to Instagram’s latest It bag, the Prada Cleo. The model, who gave birth to her first child only weeks ago, was spotted out on the streets of New York City with a white color-way in the sophisticated bag slung over one shoulder.
The new mother paired her Cleo with a pair of loose-fitting tailored grey pants and a black Aya Muse cardigan. Ratajkowski continued the belly-baring theme we saw throughout her pregnancy, leaving only the top button of her cardigan done up to reveal her stomach. The resulting ensemble is a veritable masterclass in understated street chic.
Ratajkowski is the latest fashion darling to give her seal of approval to Prada’s popular Cleo bag. The style has become a firm favorite amongst the Instagram style set, with everyone from Pernille Teisbaek to Devon Lee Carlson showing off the elegant design.
The Cleo handbag is characterized by a smooth leather exterior and sloping – almost akin to a slouchy hobo style – structured bottom, with a versatile top handle that can be worn tucked into the crook of an elbow or over the shoulder.
The bag has proven a success for the Italian house, which has been doing particularly well with accessories recently. In 2020, it was the Nylon Reissue redux that sold out for the luxury brand, with a low maintenance nylon exterior and relatively accessible price point.
The Cleo could easily be the Reissue’s grown-up older sister, as arguably the perfect transitional piece between lockdown life and post-pandemic normality. It’s also classic with clean lines and minimal branding, making it a solid investment for long-term wear in your wardrobe.
So will this be the biggest bag of the season? The closest contender, Bottega Veneta‘s Point Bag, has been spotted on the likes of Hailey Bieber, but at this point it’s any designer’s game.
