Emily Ratajkowski and Julia Fox joined forces for the latest episode of Ratajkowski’s podcast, High Low with EmRata, and the pair broke down their dating lives, single motherhood, the patriarchy and creative endeavors.
Ratajkowski began the episode by acknowledging that two women seem to be “tethered” and on “parallel paths.” Ratajkowski, 31, hosts the High Low podcast, while Fox, 32, hosts the Forbidden Fruits podcast with Niki Takesh. Ratajkowski published her book My Body in 2021 and Fox is in the works of her upcoming “masterpiece.” Both women are recently divorced and raising 1-year-old little boys, and both have been presented as sexual figures in the media.
Chatting about the single life and what they want from their next relationship, Ratajkowski said, “The main thing I would want from a relationship is emotional support, and men are having such a hard time giving that to women.” She continued, “I can’t really imagine wanting that with someone else and having this traditional family structure. What I want is an emotional partner who can help me feel good about myself day-to-day.”
“I don’t know, I’m obviously in a particular place in my life, but I can’t imagine a man doing that,” she said. “So I’m like, ‘Why would I ever have a relationship again?”
As for Fox, the Uncut Gems star echoed Ratajkowski’s sentiments and said she feels fine going without sex in her life. “I could go without, I’m so good,” she said. The Inamorata founder mused that it could be because Fox was sexualized from a young age, having acted as a dominatrix as a teenager. “I really desensitize to sex too. It’s not like thrilling for me,” said Fox.
Ratajkowski mused about the idea of people raising kids outside of the traditional “family” home and co-parenting with friends instead — something she’s doing herself at the moment. “My best friend is living with me right now and we fully co-parent Sly and I wouldn’t have it any other way, I love it so much. Spending time with another woman and just how much I don’t have to ever tell her — our instincts are so aligned. When you’re living with a man and you’re taking care of a child, you have to tell them. It’s so exhausting.”
Fox divorced the father of her son, Valentino, Peter Artemiev in February 2022, while Ratajkowski is currently going through a divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard; they share a son, Sylvester Apollo, together.
