Dua Lipa is officially in her “Versace era.” After starring in Versace’s Fall 2021 campaign and making her runway debut at the brand’s Spring-Summer 2022 show wearing two different looks (including one featuring the brand’s signature safety pins), the 26-year-old Grammy winner wore the luxury Italian label at the 2022 Grammy Awards. And the “New Rules” singer chose a Versace dress that paid homage to the house’s 1992 S&M collection.
The superstar stepped onto the carpet a day after closing the North American leg of her Future Nostalgia tour in an oh-so-sexy bondage-inspired gown featuring a sheer bustier bodice with criss-cross gold-buckled straps, plus chains featuring the brand’s medusa logo around her neck and wrist. The outfit was a “leather bondage look from the Versace Fall-Winter 1992 collection,” the brand shared on Instagram.
“Taken from the truly iconic ‘Miss S&M’ collection of 1992, the vintage Versace look features a transparent bustier with strap fastenings accented by golden buckles, and a fluid skirt,” Versace captioned a photo of the singer.
She also stood out in the glam department with her new platinum locks, styled by celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. The singer teased her new hue on her Instagram Stories before hitting the carpet, tagging the hair pro.

If Lipa’s sexy red carpet look is giving you a major case of déjà vu, you may be remembering when Cindy Crawford first wore the strappy Versace dress to the MTV Video Music Awards in 1992. Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber more recently wore an iteration of the look to her 18th birthday in 2019.

The brand’s artist director, Donatella Versace, also wore a version of the outfit in 1993 to Vogue‘s 100th anniversary party which she attended alongside her brother Gianna Versace.

Lipa wasn’t nominated for a Grammy Award this year, but she did present during the night alongside Megan Thee Stallion, who both walked out on stage in matching Versace looks. The duo recreated the hilarious moment when Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston presented at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards in the same outfit. Luckily, Donatella was on-hand to rip-away a layer of fabric to differentiate the two outfits.

Lipa wore a ruched mini LBD with latex leggings and platform boots, while Stallion wore a similar safety-pin-adorned long dress.
