Demi Moore has been serving glamorous column-dress looks these past few days in Cannes but none stood out quite like her champagne Schiaparelli gown at the May 19 premiere of her new film The Substance. Plucked from the house’s Spring/Summer 2024 haute couture collection, Moore, 61, looked every bit as incredible as the model who wore it on the runway in January.

We make this latter statement as The Substance sees the star play Elizabeth Sparkle, an ageing Hollywood actress-turned-aerobics-workout-host who get fired by the vulgar network boss (played by Dennis Quaid) because she is now deemed ‘too old’. Somehow, Elizabeth gets involved in a body enhancement program known as The Substance. This film is sci-fi, remember. So, after many injections, Elizabeth goes into a state of hibernation and a younger version of herself is born in Sue (played by Margaret Qualley). First reviews in and the film sounds extremely weird, albeit brilliant.

Qualley was also at the premiere, making it her second this season next to her other premiering film Kinds Of Kindness. In yet another dress from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2024 haute couture runway—this one leaning into the actor’s ballerina background—Qualley and Moore seemed as close as real life mother and daughter.

In fact, even the photocall looked like a photo of a mother and daughter on vacation along the French Riviera. Smiling, dancing and being silly, the duo are adorable. Take a look.
