Model and actress Cara Delevingne has joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building alongside her bestie, Selena Gomez, who plays Mabel. Delevingne opened up about the role to Footwear News saying it’s “already one of the best experiences of my entire life. I adore Selena so much.”

In the first episode of season 2, viewers (and Mabel) are introduced to Delevingne’s character, Alice, when she slides into Mabel’s DMs and the two meet at an art show. Alice quickly becomes Mabel’s love interest, and the two shared a passionate kiss in the second episode.

Delevingne got candid about the smooch telling E! News, “It was just fun. Would anyone in the world not like to kiss Selena? It was just hysterical. It’s just one of those things, especially when you know someone so well, it’s the comfortability and you kind of have fun with it.”

In terms of their friendship, the two stars have very busy schedules (Delevingne just walked in the Ami Paris runway), which makes it difficult for the duo to find time to hang. Luckily, this gig brought them together. “So to be able to spend that much time with her, and also to be able to work with her, she’s just such an incredible person to work with whether I know her or not,” the model told E! “She is brilliant, like one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with.”

Gomez returned the kind words to Delevingne telling the outlet, “I actually want to give her her accolades.” She continued, “This was all her, and I couldn’t have been luckier. She is fantastic and I love our characters and our relationship. I got very proud as a friend to see her just do an incredible job.”

The scope of Delevingne’s character has not yet been revealed, but she told Footwear News that working on Only Murders in the Building has brought her joy. “Being in that environment, especially with Steve and Martin, real comedic geniuses, it’s just so good for the soul when you can go to work and laugh every day.”

We are eager to see how this plays out, especially since we saw what happened with Steve Martin’s character, Charles, love interest last season. (To catch up, read our season 1 recap, here.)
