Cartier Jisoo

There’s no fandom more loyal than K-pop stans. They know news the minute it happens and monitor the K-pop sphere so closely, that when anything breaks, it hits viral status, stat. The latest Korean pop star to trend on social media is BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo. About a year after being named Dior’s global brand ambassador, she’s adding another impressive ambassadorship to her plate, with the French luxury jeweler, Cartier.

As soon as news surfaced that Jisoo would be the new face of Cartier, the BLINK (the official fan name for the pop group) went into a frenzy, creating hashtags like #jisooxcartier that started trending on Twitter.

“When we wanted to embody the magnetic aura of the panther, our attention was instinctively drawn to Jisoo,” says Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s VP of Marketing, in the release. “With her self-assured style, she is the voice of a new generation of creatives who dare to show their different talents. She is an artist who takes on her role with great creative freedom, never limiting herself.”

Jisoo said she’s “so glad” to be a part of Cartier’s journey. “It’s truly an honor and pleasure for me to join the Panthère tribe, where everyone proves their strength of character,” she said in the release. “I can’t wait to share Panthère’s great beauty with everyone.”

Jisoo will join the Panthère community, which includes ambassadors Ella Balinska, Mariacarla Boscono, Emma Chamberlain, Annabelle Wallis, and Yasmine Sabri.

The news marks a busy week for the star. She recently celebrated a major milestone, being only the third all-girl group to cover Rolling Stone, alongside her bandmates, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé.

The stars’ next studio album is set to come out later this year, and in the accompanying interview, Jisoo opened up about being the only member who hasn’t released solo music… yet.

“I’m not sure how much I want to go solo yet,” she told the outlet. “The music I listen to, the music I can do, and the music I want to do — what should I choose? I love songs with lots of instruments. I love different bands and rock music. What do people want from me? There’s a chaos of conflicting questions.”

For now, she seems like she’s hitting her stride racking up fashionable campaigns.
