Is it too early to call it Shag Girl Autumn? Between the wolf cut, Miley and Demi both cutting mullets, and the use of Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” on this week’s RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, the only thing more high-low than our emotions seem to be our haircuts. The latest entrance into the Shag Girl phenomenon is our Girl Genius herself, Billie Eilish. Per a now-gone Instagram story — damn you time limits! – it looks like Eilish’s hair is experiencing its own ‘Happily Ever After’. Gone is the long blonde hair we’ve seen throughout this year, in place of a jaw-grazing shorter cut with shaggy, full bangs.

It’s not a huge drastic change — nothing quite like the massive change we saw a few months ago when we learned that the black-and-neon green hair she had been wearing for months, even at the Grammys, was a WIG — but still notable. I mean, who can forget that she also helped in the return of the mullet haircut we mentioned all the way back in November. We’ve seen varying lengths of blonde from Eilish — the debut of the butter-colored, bombshell curls from the cover of British Vogue, the shoulder-length cut hair with layers and full front bangs. This time, it’s a little different — Eilish is coming in hard this time with a shaggier, more rugged cut. We’re still waiting to see if this is a hint or a suggestion — eagle-eyed fans know that a change of hair usually comes with the beginning of a new era for our gal. A remix album, perhaps? An album that can be played forwards and backward for a full, experience? An all-mullet collaboration with Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Rihanna and Demi Lovato? We’re just throwing ideas out there, feel free to take them.
