Ariana Grande first sparked concerns about her marriage when she was pictured at Wimbledon without her wedding ring. And after months of rumors surrounding her relationship with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, it seems the split has been confirmed, with both parties filing for divorce simultaneously.

The filing took place on September 18, per documents obtained by TMZ. Grande cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage, while Gomez filed his own divorce petition at the same time. The documents also note their date of separation as February 20, 2023.

Reports initially circulated that Grande and her husband, Dalton Gomez, had split after two years of marriage after sources spoke to multiple outlets. According to TMZ and People Magazine, the singer and the luxury real estate agent have actually been separated since January. Though the couple allegedly tried to reconcile “a few months back,” a source speculated in July that the relationship was “heading for divorce.”

Grande and Gomez had been long-distance since December, while the latter continues starring in Wicked as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo in the U.K., but their relationship issues reportedly started long before that. Another source for People confirmed the couple’s separation, saying that the pair “have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship.”

An insider for Entertainment Tonight further shed some light on the split. “Ariana and Dalton’s friends have always been concerned by their whirlwind romance and felt their relationship would ultimately be short-lived,” they said. “Their relationship has been rocky at different points, and they’ve had trouble making time for each other with scheduling issues.”

The couple first began dating in January 2020, and their relationship got serious quickly when they decided to quarantine together during lockdowns. In May 2021, Gomez revealed that they had officially tied the knot in an intimate ceremony held at Grande’s house, posting a handful of photos from the day.

The Grammy-winning singer last posted Gomez when she shared a wedding photo on her Stories this past May to mark their two-year wedding anniversary. “2, 3.5 years together!!!! I love him so,” she wrote alongside the photo.

Neither Grande nor Gomez is yet to make a public statement, but the two have kept relatively quiet about their relationship since the beginning to keep it out of the spotlight.
