Alaïa swimwear Launching a swimwear collection in the early part of winter may seem like a tease — but we see it as motivation to start planning those tropical winter getaways, especially when it comes to designer Pieter Mulier‘s newly launched swimwear for Alaïa. The talented designer who took the helm of the legendary house in July of this year launched swimwear yesterday as a celebration of the relationship between Alaïa and the free beauty of women.

The swimwear comes together in a debut collection that is equal parts nostalgic yet modern. Mulier pays homage to the maisons signature code that undoubtedly defined the 70s and 80s fashion by incorporating studded metal eyelets, zips, leather into the swimwear collection. Each element pays tribute to Alaïa’s ready-to-wear collections while adapting them to modern-day silhouettes made for swimming sexy.

One thing that’s always been consistent for Alaïa is its ability to capture curves through its timeless formfitting contouring. The collection includes high-cut leg pieces, a terry cloth beach robe, a bolero cover-up jacket, and an oh-so sexy bandeau bikini with trendy open-knit cutouts and a matching midi skirt. Each of the styles comes in white, sky blue, dark green, maroon, and the maison’s signature red.

The french maison’s debut swimwear collection is now available to shop at boutiques and maison-alaia.com, but don’t get anxious if you’re not ready to give up cabincore and winter festivities and jump into vacation mode just yet — the collection will be available all year round. Ahead, check out a few of our favorite pieces from the line.
