Held a the Pool Room in New York City overnight, the Council of Fashion Designers of America held its CFDA Awards. The annual soirée attracts some of the biggest names in the business and nominees for the evening included Rick Owens, Off-White and Louis Vuitton’s Virgil Abloh, Miuccia Prada, and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli. 2021 was a year of particular importance after the event was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Emily Blunt hosted the awards and appeared early on the red carpet wearing a fluro orange Christopher John Rogers pant suit. Zendaya was honoured during the evening with the Fashion Icon Award. She appeared on the red carpet in a cherry red Vera Wang two piece. She chose a custom crimson silk faille two-piece ensemble comprised of a narrow skirt with an asymmetric hand draped bubble waist and bandeau bra.
Fellow actress Anya Taylor-Joy was present and received the Face of the Year Award and Dapper Dan the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The Queen’s Gambit star wore a purple peplum mini dress by Oscar de la Renta and leopard gloves and a hat by Gigi Burris.
Emily Ratajkowski took inspiration direct from Paris Fashion Week and opted for a midriff baring look straight from the Spring/Summer 2022 Miu Miu runway. Ashley Olsen, one half of The Row, made a rare red carpet appearance and unsurprisingly opted from a vampy all-black look from her own label.
