Inspirational women, may we know them and may we be them. On October 12, Zeena Zaki debuted her SS24 collection at Dubai Fashion Week. From all black to glitter encrusted gowns, the show wowed the audience. Not to mention, the surprise engagement at the end of the show when the wedding gown was revealed.
GRAZIA sits down with Zeena Zaki for an exclusive interview.
When asked what inspired her brand, Zaki remarked, “I just love fashion and it’s a kind of meditation for me, I lose time, I lose space.” For Zaki, her work comes first and means a lot to her. By women for women, each design embodies confidence. Additionally, she emphasized that the message she wants to pass on to women is, “you’re just gorgeous, you’re beautiful and I need her to feel that.” She mentioned that every woman who wears her dresses feels beautiful and she smiles, “this is all I need.”
Fashion runs in the family
Her daughters, Rania Fawazz, Dania Fawazz and Talia Fawazz thrive in the fashion scene. Growing up in a house “full of art, full of fashion, full of dresses”, Zaki recalls, her daughters would wear dresses aged three and four with her high heels. For Zaki’s family, fashion is in their DNA, she said “fashion became a part of their lives.” Speaking proudly about her daughters she mentioned, “they took it to a higher degree, became international, traveling the world and doing fashion shows.”
A brand by women for women
Zeena Zaki is a brand that caters to all women. When asked who she would love to see her designs on, she remarked that it was a good question because she “‘prefers all the women.” To Zaki, “all women are stars.” The brand is abundant with dreamy gowns, corsets and formal wear, Zeena Zaki truly has it all. “Whoever wears my dresses is a star and of course I would want to dress the globe.”
