Public Holidays UAE 2023

We may have just had a long weekend here in the UAE, but that can’t stop us thinking about the next one.

In the spirit of planning ahead, GRAZIA is here to keep you in the know about this year’s public holidays.

This year, 2023, has afforded us in the UAE many long weekends already including the four-day Eid Al Fitr break, the six-day Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day break and most recently the three-day weekend for Islamic New Year.

When will the remaining UAE public holidays fall in 2023?

While we’re now towards the end of 2023, we have a long weekend to look forward to in December (FYI it’s next week) which also marks one of the most important days in the UAE calendar.

Commemoration Day & UAE National Day

The final public holidays for 2023 will fall on the first weekend in December, as the UAE observes Commemoration Day and National Day celebrations on December 1, 2 and 3.

Commemoration Day, which was previously known as Martyr’s Day, recognises the Emirati soldiers who have given their lives in service of their country. National Day marks the day when the seven emirates united together to become the United Arab Emirates under the leadership of the Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed.

On Wednesday, November 22, it was announced by UAE authorities that December 2 and 3 would be marked as paid public holidays, but since this falls over Saturday and Sunday, it means there will be not an extended break for those in the public and private sectors.
