December 2, 1971, marked a monumental day with the unification of the emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, followed by Ras Al Khaimah in 1972.

Under the leadership and vision of the Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed, over the last 52 years, the nation has gone from strength to strength becoming a home for both UAE citizens and the world alike.

To mark the 52nd UAE National Day, GRAZIA sat down with Emirati designer and content creator Jawaher Al Suwaidi.

“I feel very proud and very lucky to be from the UAE, especially as an Emirati woman,” she declares.

“Our leaders value us women and they offer us limitless resources to achieve what we desire as women.”

As a successful fashion creator and entrepreneur, as well as a mother of two, Jawaher is a source of inspiration to many across the UAE, GCC and beyond.

“I hope to inspire [other women] to have confidence, in their identity and aspirations and I hope to encourage them to pursue and achieve their dreams,” she adds.
