Timothée Chalamet is reportedly set to join inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and CDFA Chairman Tom Ford in co-hosting duties at the 2021 Met Gala.

The Call Me By Your Name and Little Women actor’s sartorial ventures have frequented many a red carpet these past couple of years; Gucci. Louis Vuitton. Alexander McQueen, the list goes on. It now seems the 25-year-old (who may or may not be dating Lily Rose Depp for a second time) has caught the eye of Anna Wintour.

Tickets to the gala – which will now take place in the second week of September in the hope the world (or at least the fashion set in New York) will have returned to “normal” – are reportedly costing $30,000 [approximately Dhs110,000]. Page Six is reporting that tables were going for $275,000 [approximately Dhs1 million] and are already sold out. The black-tie event raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.

“Pending government guidelines, a slightly smaller celebration is planned for September 13, 2021, timed to coincide with the close of what will hopefully be an in-person New York Fashion Week,” a statement from Vogue read on April 12. “The event will then return to regular scheduling—the first Monday in May—in 2022.”

This year’s Met Gala theme will celebrate “homegrown designers” as an accompaniment to the two-part exhibition coming to the Metropolitan Museum of Art this year through September 2022. Per Vogue, “Part one, ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,’ will open in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18, 2021, and will remain on display when ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’ opens on May 5, 2022, in the period rooms of the American Wing.”

Chalamet is yet to comment on the appointment. Gorman and Ford have not been officially confirmed.

The gala was cancelled last year. At the time, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Nicolas Ghesquiere were set to co-chair the event.
