In a world full of glossy lipsticks, creamy lipsticks, and stiff, dry as the Liwa desert matte lipsticks, what’s the happy medium? Any GRAZIA beauty editor will confidently tell you soft matte lipsticks. These lipsticks are just what they sound like, soft with a cream-like texture, boasting the lasting power of a matte lipstick and offering a slight sheen like their glossy counterparts. Soft matte lipsticks are here to stay, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier.

Here are three beauty brands with outstanding soft-matte lipstick formulas that we cannot seem to stop repurchasing:

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury is a household name, worldwide. With beautiful makeup products designed to awaken the goddess within, what’s not to love? It’s no surprise she’s perfected the soft matte lipstick formula. According to Charlotte’s website, the Matte Revolution lipsticks (Dhs160, Charlotte Tilbury) contain “ingredients like nourishing orchid and Lipstick Tree extracts (believe it or not, the Lipstick Tree does exist- we looked it up) plus light-reflecting pigments, making lips appear softer, smoother and more youthful.” Char’s Pillow Talk shade is a universal pink-nude that became iconic the day it launched. Since then she’s launched two deeper Pillow Talk shades plus a bevy of other colours as well.

Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream

Selena Gomez launched her Rare Beauty makeup brand last year with tremendous success. Known for it’s natural and easy-to-use take on makeup, the Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream (Dhs115, Sephora) is a non-drying and lightweight soft matte lipstick. The formula is packed with nourshing ingredients like plant extracts lotus, gardenia, white waterlily, as well as skin smoothing antioxidant Vitamin E to make lips soft and smooth throughout the day. Make sure you phone is charged because you’ll love taking selfies showing off this lipstick’s soft blurring effect.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour

It’s no surprise that Chanel rounds out the list for best soft matte lipsticks. The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour (Dhs180, Sephora) contains softening jojoba oil, smoothing vitamin E, and moisturising shea butter. According to Chanel’s website, this soft matte lipstick has a “second-skin effect on the lips and feels as soft and comfortable as velvet.” It couldn’t be more true. No caking, no dryness, just a sheer and luxurious hydrating matte finish.
