Selena Gomez certainly knows how to make an entrance, even when she’s doing her absolute best to keep her presence low-key. Case in point? The star’s deliberate skip of this year’s Emmys red carpet, which instead saw the star pop up to present an award mid-show.
But wearing a crystallised white Celine gown with an elegant updo and emerald jewels, it was always going to be hard to miss Gomez. Paired with soft, peachy-bronze makeup and groomed arches, the star’s dazzling halterneck ensemble was sophistication personified.
Of course, the taupe and mauve makeup tones were courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Melissa Murdick and Gomez’s own cosmetic juggernaut, Rare Beauty. The star, who was nominated for her work as a producer on Only Murders In The Building, had hairstylist Marissa Marino sweep her long locks up into a sculptural coiffure for a “sleek and chic” look.
Hollywood nail artist Tom Bachik revealed on Instagram that the Same Old Love singer had wanted to coordinate her nails to her jewels, resulting in an “emerald illusion” manicure. Bachik said that he created the custom colour by “Start[ing] with a thin coat” of OPI’s The Pass Is Always Greener ($23.95) “as our base shade to give the proper undertone” before layering over the brand’s Emerald Illusion lacquer ($21.99).
Bachik revealed that he then created a custom mix of OPI’s AmazOn AmazOff ($24.99) and RatedPea-G ($18.95) for “the overlying tone and mixed it with #StayShiny top coat to create a sheer ‘jelly’ shade that was then thinly layered over the nail to give us the final look”.
