Selena Gomez has given a candid interview with TaTaTu podcast, Giving Back Generation, talking mental health, her Instagram hiatus and goals for the future – revealing that actually, she’s mainly interested in settling down and motherhood.

Gomez is currently having a renaissance, garnering critical acclaim for her role in the comedy series Only Murders In The Building, where she holds her own alongside legendary comedic actors Steve Martin and Martin Short. But while her career has never been stronger, Gomez looks toward a future that is relatively outside of the public eye.

I hope to be married and to be a mom,” she says to host Raquelle Stevens and long-time friend Ashley Cook. “Eventually, I’m going to be tired of all of this, so I’m probably just going to devote most of my life to philanthropy before I peace out.”

Gomez famously dated Justin Bieber for years, before a high-profile romance with artist The Weeknd. Lately, though, the actress and singer has been enjoying her single life – although her recent holiday to Positano saw media outlets linking her to Italian-Canadian film producer Andrea Iervolino.

The star also famously quit Instagram four years ago, and now passes posts and content to her assistant, choosing to stay away from commentary and scrolling. “I’m an extremist,” she said of the decision. “So it’s either one way or the other way. But it’s been purposeful because I get excited when I see you guys because I didn’t look at Instagram. So I don’t know what you did or how you are and that’s like real time that we can gain together.”

She says breaks from social media, even short weekend stints, are wise – but stressed that she doesn’t see social media as a negative in our lives, just something to consume in moderation. “I think that’s so crucial and a part of our mental health.”
