The giant sportswear label Adidas has partnered up with Ravi Restaurant, a local family-owned Pakistani restaurant in Dubai that has been running for over four decades, to launch the Superstar Ravi sneakers. This exciting collaboration was created as an effort to celebrate local restaurants that are beloved by communities in cities around the world.
To celebrate food, hospitality and community, Adidas will be covering 11 restaurants in 11 cities and launching 11 unique sneaker designs. Each collaboration will embody the restaurant’s history through its colours and design aesthetic. These nostalgic collections will pay homage to the venues that have brought families and communities together for years.
Ravi Restaurant is a family-owned business founded in Dubai in 1978 by Chaudary Abdul Hameed. This restaurant was created with the purpose to serve traditional Pakistani food to those who were homesick and missed authentic home-cooked meals. Now, this local business has become a tourist attraction and a top-tier restaurant beloved by celebrities, locals, tourists, and expats. It has been run by three generations and continues to be a sanctuary for those looking not only for good food but for a welcoming community as well.
The re-interpretation of the special edition Superstar Ravi design is a take on the original Adidas Superstar sneakers. The new shoe features a sock liner with a hand-drawn map, signifying the meaning of the name Ravi, which means river in Northeastern Pakistan. On the heel tab, Ravi Restaurant’s opening year is displayed as well as the English name on one side and the Arabic name on the other. On the tongue of the shoes, there are six dishes chosen by the restaurant owners written in English on one side and Arabic on the other as well. Even the unique packaging features a special edition takeaway-style box with the Ravi Restaurant’s logo on it.
The Adidas x Ravi Restaurant limited-edition sneakers will be available for purchase through Adidas’ online website here starting the 23rd of June, as well as in select retailers in Dubai.
