Back in December 2019, Prada and adidas released their first collaborative collection together, which saw customers highly anticipating the much-talked-about partnership. The limited edition drop was so exclusive that only 700 pieces were released of both footwear and accessories, each numbered with a unique serial. The initial release only saw two styles: a remake of the adidas Originals Superstar sneakers, as well as a Prada Bowling bag for adidas. Yesterday, the two brands announced a new collaborative release which incorporates Prada’s Re-Nylon textile with adidas’ Originals Forum.

Prada’s Re-Nylon textile is an innovative step towards sustainability, and is made of the recycled plastic waste collected from oceans and textile fibre waste. A statement by Prada reads, “Prada Re-Nylon is a fundamental reflection of Prada’s environmentally conscious ideology and commitment to sustainable practices – woven into the very fiber of its signature fabric. This celebration of Prada Re-Nylon through the adidas for Prada collection underscores a landmark: the shift of the entire Prada production from virgin nylon to Re-Nylon, achieved by the end of 2021.”

Not only is this collaboration working towards sustainability, but it is also changing the way brands market themselves in the digital age, being one of the first collection to be marketed through the Metaverse in a digital activation.

The collection incorporates motifs of both brands, like adidas’ iconic 3 stripes as well as Prada’s adored pouch pocket strapped to shoes. The highly-anticipated drop is set to be released on January 13 via Prada boutiques, Prada.com, and adidas.com.
