Tucked away on a cobbled street in South Kensington, London, you’ll find the city’s best-kept skin secret: the Shane Cooper Clinic. A quick scour of Shane’s Instagram and you’ll see many a famous face on many a famous red carpet, from the BAFTAs to Cannes to Louis Vuitton’s latest show in Italy. Maya Jama is a huge fan, as is Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor, Lily Allen, Sienna Miller, and none other than Poppy Delevingne – though Shane himself assures me that he has a roster of more private, high-profile, international celeb clientele, too.

His cult-like celeb following is all down to his “Exclusive Face Treatment”. Also known amongst those in the know as “The Red Carpet Facial”, it’s only ever carried out by Shane himself, and is completely tailored to whoever’s in front of him. “No two treatments are ever the same,” he tells me. “We see Maya Jama, for example, two times a month. And we completely tailor each treatment depending on what she needs at the time.”

Prior to her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, Shane gave Maya the Exclusive Face Treatment, as well as an Aqua Glow Facial “for extra extraction”. The whole red-carpet prep process began with the removal of dead skin cells, using active ingredients to target deep layers of the skin via CO2 micro-bubbles to oxygenate, stimulate and brighten. Shane then used micro-currents to lift and contour the facial muscles, before moving onto collagen production and using “tri-polar radiofrequency” to strengthen the skin. Next, he harnessed medical-grade LED light therapy to target signs of sun damage, acne, hyperpigmentation and premature ageing before moving onto a lymphatic drainage treatment to dispel toxins. Finally, he sealed everything in with hydrating ingredients to give a perfectly “dewised” look.

Shane also made sure to suck impurities out of the skin with a literal vacuum. “I use an army of machines” he told me, “I can use up to six different treatments and machines within a treatment, but it’s all completely non-invasive and non-surgical”. The result? Deliciously juicy, shine-like-a-star skin.

If you want to look red-carpet-ready, one treatment isn’t enough – getting a red-carpet-ready glow is an ongoing feat. “Maya’s quite regular”, Shane explained. “It’s a consistent thing to maintain healthy, dewy, glowy skin.”

It doesn’t stop there though; Shane also says you need to stay on top of your skin health at home: “Maya has my skincare range to use at home. It’s kind of like bringing the clinic to your home to maintain healthy skin. So, it’s all about using cosmeceutical skincare as well as having good gut health and things like drinking plenty of water.”

Shane proudly tells me: “Nobody else does the treatments that I do. Makeup artists love it because it’s all about skin health, and when you’ve got a good base to work on, everything works really well together. I absolutely love doing what I do – it’s ultimately making people feel confident in their own skin.”
