For the entirety of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s two-year (and PDA-filled) relationship, the reality star and drummer have served as the template of the modern-day ‘I’m with the band’ relationship, with the Poosh founder regarded as the consummate embodiment of “rockstar girlfriend” aesthetic.
Now, in the announcement of their baby’s gender, “Kravis” (as the pair are colloquially known) has upped the ante by sharing the sex of their baby with the world via a figurative and literal drumroll.
In a video posted to the couple’s respective Instagram accounts, the 44-year-old reality star was filmed sitting on the Blink 182 member’s knee as he proceeded the announcement with a percussive drum roll.
Behind the newlyweds, blue confetti exploded signalling that the Barkers will welcome a boy into their fold.
Given that Kardashian revealed the news of her pregnancy by paying tribute to the band’s 1999 video music for “All The Small Things”—see: holding a sign that read “Travis I’m Pregnant” at the band’s Los Angeles concert—their continuation of these music-influenced announcements is a pertinent move on their behalf.
Kardashian and Barker shared their baby news a few months after celebrating their first marriage anniversary. This child is the first the couple have had together.
Both Kardashian and Barker are parents to three children respectively, with the Lemme founder’s brood including Mason, 13, Penelope, 10 and Reign, 8, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick. Barker is father to Landon, 19, Alabama, 17 and step-father to Atiana De La Hoya, 24.
The couple also hasn’t shied away from sharing their struggles with fertility and their IVF journey on the Kardashian-Jenner-led reality series, The Kardashians. With the pair vocal about their desire to start a family together, these milestone moments in Kardashian’s pregnancy feel all the more filially wholesome.
The California-based couple hasn’t disclosed any thoughts about the name of the baby, but the pair’s social media history offers a hint at the types of monikers they’re considering.
In a 2021 Halloween post, Barker wrote “Our son’s name will be Elvis” on an Instagram photo of Kardashian dressed as Alabama Worley.
As fans of the 1993 cult-classic True Romance would be aware, the plot follows the comeuppance of Alabama (Patricia Arquette) and Elvis Presley-loving Clarence (Christian Slater). Since the duo have already shown their fondness for the film—through their Halloween costume and Travis’ daughter’s name—along with being (test) married by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas, we’d say this name is a clear frontrunner.
At least now we know the ending for the girl at the rock show.
