His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan is celebrating his 61st birthday on Monday, the 30th of January. Born as the eldest son of His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal and Her Highness Princess Mona Al-Hussein, King Abdullah was born in Amman in the year 1962.

After the passing of his father, the King ascended to the throne in 1999 on the very same day. In part with his birthday celebration, The Royal Hashemite Court tweeted a tribute video wishing the King a happy birthday.

Additionally, King Abdullah received cables from state leaders and administration to commemorating his 61st birthday. Similar cables were also sent from top officers, government officials, and members of civil society organizations.

Perhaps the most special wishes came from his beloved wife, Queen Rania. She made separate posts wishing a happy birthday to her husband, and also their son, Prince Hashim who was born on the same day as his father in 2005. The young prince turns 18 today.

Prince Hashem is the youngest son of the couple, and the second in line to the throne after his older brother, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Born at King Hussein Medical Center, the prince is currently studying at King’s Academy in Jordan.

The Crown Prince is set to marry Miss Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif‘ in a summer wedding on June 1st 2023. They will be the next King and Queen of Jordan. His younger sister, Princess Iman is engaged to a New York based financier Jameel Alexander Thermiotis.
