Love, royalty, and a legacy that transcends time – Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania have captivated the world with their remarkable journey together. On June 10 1993, King Abdullah and Queen Rania exchanged vows at Zahran Palace in Amman, the same spot that their eldest son, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein wed Princess Rajwa Al Hussein earlier this month.

King Abdullah and Queen Rania 30th anniversary

In the late months of 1992, King Abdullah, who was not yet the proclaimed heir to the throne, met Rania Al-Yassin, a 22-year-old aspiring executive from a Palestinian medical family, who recently relocated from Kuwait to Jordan, at a memorable dinner party. Recounting their first meeting to People magazine in 2005, King Abdullah fondly expressed, “the minute Rania walked in, I knew it right then and there. It was love at first sight.” Queen Rania, in an interview with Stellar magazine in 2016, also shared her perspective, “he had such an infectious energy and a captivating smile. We connected effortlessly, and the rest, as they say, is history.”

Just six months after that fateful meeting, the couple got engaged and eventually married in the summer of 1993. As they approach their 30th anniversary, a huge milestone for the royal family and the nation of Jordan, it is only fitting to reflect upon their extraordinary partnership, not only as leaders of a nation but also as a beacon of love and grace. Throughout their three decades of marriage, King Abdullah and Queen Rania have become synonymous with modern monarchy, epitomising a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary values. From their first public appearance as a newlywed couple to their roles as influential global figures, their love story has unfolded amidst the grandeur of Jordan’s rich heritage and the ever-evolving dynamics of the world stage.
