Queen Rania Shares Annual Family Holiday Portrait

Today, King Abdullah II celebrates his 60th birthday. As ever, the Jordanian royals have taken to social media to share their touching tributes to his majesty.

Son Prince Hussein, shares an Instagram Reels, highlighting King Abdullah’s work in the army. “We celebrate 60 years with you as a father, a mentor, and a leader; 60 years of your unwavering dedication to serve your people. Happy birthday, Your Majesty,” he writes in the caption.

Queen Rania shared a portrait with her husband, which was taken for the family’s 2021 holiday card, to mark the occasion. The mother-of-four is pictured in the Roksanda Ophelia white silk dress and Etro leather belt. Her message, short and sweet: “My heart is home to a king…”

King Abdullah II of Jordan, the longest-serving current Arab leader, also shares his birthday with son Prince Hashem. The royal family’s official Instagram account also posted a snap of the two commemorating their special day.

It has been reported that the king has received cables from heads of state,government, senior officials and officers for his birthday. The cable of thanks are to highlight his ongoing efforts to advance Jordan. “The senders highlighted His Majesty’s ongoing efforts to advance Jordan, noting that the country has begun its second centennial with political, economic, and administrative modernisation, in line with the King’s vision to fulfil the aspirations of Jordanians and move towards further progress. They noted Jordan’s pivotal regional and international role under His Majesty’s leadership, stressing his commitment to advancing Arab and Islamic causes, and to safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite Custodianship.”

King Abdullah has also received cables on this occasion on Army Day and on the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohammad.
