You cannot deny the influential power of Kim Kardashian and Mario Dedivanovic (most commonly known as Makeup by Mario) when it comes to beauty.
Dedivanovic rose to fame for his early work with Kardashian, notably her signature bronzed, sculpted complexion – some might say that the entrepreneur made ‘contouring’ go mainstream.
The duo still frequently work together (Dedivanovic famously did Kardashian’s glam for the 2022 Met Gala, where she wore a dress previously seen on Marilyn Monroe) and fortunately over the years, the makeup artist has given us several insights into his famous technique.

The perfect example is this masterclass, uploaded to TikTok this morning where Dedivanovic runs through his ‘complexion’ routine on Kardashian, using products from his eponymous line to shade and sculpt her to perfection. There’s foundation, skin perfectors, powders, contour creams, powdered bronzers and blush – it’s a process nit for the faint of heart, but the incredible results have us convinced it’s worth it. One of the most interesting takeaways from the tutorial is Dedivanovic’s use of foundation that’s much warmer than Kardashian’s skin tone as she’s filming under bright, hot studio lights. He also continuously mixes warm and cool-toned formulas, presumably to build dimension that looks defined, but still believable. He also layers differing product formats, starting with liquid to warm the skin, moving onto creams, and then locking everything in with powder.
