After anti-semitic comments made by Kanye West two weeks ago, an impressionable group of fans have continued to spread hate and violence as the rapper is dropped by collaborators. Overnight Kim Kardashian was forced to make a statement on her ex-husband’s behaviour and took to social media to call for the end of hate speech.
“Hate speech is never OK or excusable,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories on October 24. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.”
We won’t air the comment here but West’s post was swiftly removed from social media more than two weeks ago with West indefinitely banned from both Twitter and Instagram for violating the platform’s community policies. The couple co-parent North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.
Kardashian is not the only one to renounce the designer’s comments. Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner backed up their sister overnight and shared a post from Amy Schumer on their Instagram stories that read, “I support my Jewish friends and the Jewish people.”
West is also facing a lawsuit from the family of George Floyd who are suing the rapper for $250 million USD after “harassment, misappropriation, defamation and infliction of emotional distress”. He has since been dropped by Balenciaga, his partnership with Adidas is “under review” and Anna Wintour and Vogue have cut ties with the designer.
