In an exclusive interview with El Mundo, the 33-year-old shared, “I have converted to Islam. It was here in the Mosque of Madrid. They recited the Qur’an… It’s a small and intimate ceremony. I cried like a girl. I am very sentimental.”

She further expresses, “I have researched a lot about this religion, and I find it beautiful. Everything I’ve read about [it] has moved me. During Ramadan, I read the Qur’an, and it made me cry. I also read The Sacred Path to Islam, about a Christian who converts to Islam, like me. A really precious book.”

Seeing as Benzema has moved to Saudi Arabia, El Mundo asked Ozuna whether or not she’s worried about being a woman in the Middle East. The model replies, “Not at all. I’m excited.” She further shares that she’s excited for a new adventure and is eager to learn much about the “precious culture.” Ozuna seems to be respectful and open to new things. Benzema’s partner also claims that she has no problem with the dress code in the country.

As most may already know, the iconic striker and current holder of the Ballon d’Or, Karim Benzema, has recently joined Saudi Arabia’s professional league club, Al-Ittihad. The former Real Madrid player is now signed on a 2-year deal with the club. Benzema is expected to offer his partner support on her journey to Islam from the sidelines in Saudi.
