After a relationship spanning two decades, multiple other relationships and engagements, both to others and each other, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are finally married. And to top it all off they did so in Las Vegas.

Following the surprise wedding, J.Lo confirmed her name change and, simultaneously, that we’ve officially entered her J.Af era.

The singer and actress signed off a letter to fans about the wedding as “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck,” adding that she wore “a dress from an old movie” — her take on the “something old” bridal tradition — which her hairstylist Chris Appleton thankfully posted below.

“We read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” she wrote.

Though the bride only mentioned one dress explicitly, in social media images from the surprise nuptials, she can be seen in two different dresses: one, the short sleeve from the yet unidentified movie (surely one she stars in with Affleck?!) and another long-sleeve lace wedding gown.

It didn’t take long before everyone’s favourite fashion Instagram account @Diet_Prada identified the second piece as being by Zuhair Murad, the Lebanese couturier who was also behind the embellished gown Lopez wore in the rom-com Marry Me.

The stunning dress, which features a sweetheart neckline, corset top and fitted bodice, is from the brand’s Spring 2023 bridal collection and is completely made of lace. Lopez added a veil, too, to her loosely waved hair to match the original styling of the dress and, according to her, the groom, who matched her in white, wore a jacket from his own wardrobe for the ceremony.

As for why they opted for a Vegas wedding? Apparently, it was down to not wanting to wait any longer and having a little fun with it. “They both are so comfortable with each other and make each other so happy,” a source told Us Weekly. “So they don’t want to wait any longer. They both thought it was a fun and casual way to tie the knot.”

Fun and casual indeed.
