Most normal couples spent Valentine’s Day exchanging gifts and having dinner dates (or ditching their partners to watch Magic Mike’s Last Dance with the girls, if you’re part of my friendship group). But Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck aren’t most normal couples.
The pair, who have a love story that could be taken directly from one of their early aught rom-coms, instead chose to honour their romance with something a little more permanent than a dozen roses: matching tattoos.
On Instagram, J.Lo, who made a cameo in her husband’s Dunkin Donuts Super Bowl ad earlier this week, debuted her new ink with a Valentine’s Day-themed photo dump, captioned, “Commitment ♾️ Happy Valentine’s Day my love 🤍.”
In the first image, the singer is seen wearing a tiny white crop top that shows off her tattoo that sits right above the left side of her ribcage: an infinity sign pierced by an arrow that incorporated the names “Jennifer” and “Ben” written in cursive.
Affleck’s tattoo, which features two arrows crossing one another with the letters “J” and “B” above and below, is pictured later in Lopez’s gallery, alongside various photos of the loved-up couple hugging and cuddling in various locations, as well as vintage photos from their first relationship two decades ago.“#CommitmentIsSexy #ThisIsUsThen #ThisIsUsNow #ThisIsMeNow,” Lopez hashtagged the post.
The pair are heading toward the one-year anniversary of their (second) engagement, last April, one year after they reunited after 20 years apart. Last year, Lopez reflected on their initial break up, widely thought to have been due to intense public scrutiny. “Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life,” she said. “And I honestly felt like I was going to die.”
The couple finally walked down the aisle last July in Las Vegas, before having a huge wedding in Georgia in August, where Lopez performed for her husband.
